On the season 4 Simpsons DVD commentaries, Al Jean says it doesn't mean anything. Writer John Schwartzwelder made it up.

5. posted by Gryffindor at 15:09 on August 06, 2005

as a German-speaker, I can only speculate. "Endut" sounds very similiar to "Ende gut" which means translated "all´s well that ends well". "Hoch Hech" does not make any sense, but "Hoch" in German means "high". It can also be used in sentences to praise something, similar to "Hurrah" or "Hip Hip".

ENDUT HOCH HECH doesn't mean anything in German - but it souns nice.

That segment was translated in spanish as "Obrero y Parásito". We wondered in Latin america what the hell was the meaning of "Endut! Hoch Hech!. Apparently it does not make any sense.

12. posted by peterlin at 18:32 on April 05, 2008

I think that the writer invented "Endut" as "End", but with German-like accent (because it appears at end of cartoon). The "Hoch Hech" part, watching that probably means "Hurrah" or "Hip Hip", I think that it would mean "Get happy!", like and order.
Just wondering!

Los primeros títulos están en cirílico, pero los del final no... Es raro, pero no todos los rojos usan ese alfabeto... Si significa algo, y solo si lo significa, será en el idioma de algún país no eslavo… Habría que investigar cuales eran los miembros de la URSS en 1959 y ver cuales no usaban dicho alfabeto. Sería demasiado profundizar, y realmente me causa más risa si la frase es inventada que si tiene un significado real.

Working on my final entry (of 5) for the 256b.htm Compo. Deadline is tomorrow night. It's insane the tricks one resorts to when trying to fit something in 256 bytes. A little sample:

Ik moet zeggen ik heb zeer slechte ervaringen met www.watercoolergigant.nl Komen hun afspraken niet na of komen zelfs nooit opdagen. Mijn advies nooit zaken me doen!!

Hallo allemaal. Graag wil ik jullie verwijzen naar Watercompany International BV. Zij zijn specialist in het leveren en onderhouden van waterkoelers aangesloten op de waterleiding. Kijk voor meer informatie op www.waterlogic.nl!

Wow, creating something interesting in under 256 bytes (for the 256b.htm compo) isn't easy... Here's one of the things I had to scrap: a random inkblot generator, way too big at 384 bytes... ;)

This one uses the XBM img src technique to generate a 2-bit image at run-time (example 1, 2). Could try rendering it with divs instead, but that'll probably cause quite the browser-freeze.

Hehe :) Well I only got mine to work by
absolutely *butchering* the correct
syntax... lots of illegal script and
html tags that IE fills in, but it
fails on just about every other browser
out there, not how I normally like to
code :)

That's a nice little script you've got there. I've had an inkblot generator of my own on my page for years, but it only produces PostScript files. Coming across this page has inspired me to add a couple of .xbm-producing pages, using both my original inkblot algorithm and a modification of your idea of using a random walk.

One problem with using public transportation, convenient as it is, is that you're repeatedly confronted with huge, offensive billboards advertising tobacco. Last December saw a particularly good one:

Seasons Greetings from Marlboro Country

Wtf do they mean by that?! Something like: Merry Christmas, we hope you'll buy plenty of our products before you die from using them as they were intended ?

Smokers suck... (literally)

They sure do!
I can t believe they pay good money to be able to smoke an addictive substance that not only stinks but wreks your health! Why do they start??!!
