On the season 4 Simpsons DVD commentaries, Al Jean says it doesn't mean anything. Writer John Schwartzwelder made it up.

as a German-speaker, I can only speculate. "Endut" sounds very similiar to "Ende gut" which means translated "all´s well that ends well". "Hoch Hech" does not make any sense, but "Hoch" in German means "high". It can also be used in sentences to praise something, similar to "Hurrah" or "Hip Hip".
sry, guys..."endut" means nothing in german. "hech" is also unknown the german vocabular. just "hoch" means really "high", if you translate it in english from german.

You mustn't forget, that it is written cyrillic. The cyrillic H is the german N - for instance.
ENDUT HOCH HECH doesn't mean anything in German - but it souns nice.

That segment was translated in spanish as "Obrero y Parásito". We wondered in Latin america what the hell was the meaning of "Endut! Hoch Hech!. Apparently it does not make any sense.
I think that the writer invented "Endut" as "End", but with German-like accent (because it appears at end of cartoon). The "Hoch Hech" part, watching that probably means "Hurrah" or "Hip Hip", I think that it would mean "Get happy!", like and order.
Just wondering!
i dont't think that's even german, i mean, the cartoon whas "eastern europe's favourite", so... let's call kosovo and yell "endut!! hoch hech!" on the phone.. maybe they start bombing us..maybe not..maybe i'm crazy..who knows..
You cared enough to come to this site, and even post. So you are actually nitpicking a nitpick. You can't get any more menial and bereft of life than that. Most of us don't care. You didn't care so much that you wasted moments of your life to tell people they shouldn't care.

Working on my final entry (of 5) for the 256b.htm Compo. Deadline is tomorrow night. It's insane the tricks one resorts to when trying to fit something in 256 bytes. A little sample:
supposedly, that's not allowed...
not that I'd need to - already managed some fast, fullscreen, varied, detailed, interactive animations within the limit.

hm. not a casema channel :(
also a bit too prominent in de vpro tv-guide. what's the use of declaring a film 'film of the day' when only 10% of NL can watch it?

i.am/bald 100 - digital clock using css borders (IE5/IE6/NS6)
So I was planning on making nr. 100 into this whole retrospective thing, showing thumbnails and detailed descriptions of nr. 1-99, but that felt like too much work and would've been kinda weird anyway, so I decided to just see it as another number, forego the whole looking-back thing, and get on with making the next 100 entries. But feel free to celebrate this momentous occasion in your own way...
now that i look at this (as a random entry), i realise that the x=(x*7) to Mod 10 leaves all the numbers from 1 to 10 with intervals of 3 between each number looped over... incredible
Mijn advies nooit zaken me doen!!

Wow, creating something interesting in under 256 bytes (for the 256b.htm compo) isn't easy... Here's one of the things I had to scrap: a random inkblot generator, way too big at 384 bytes... ;)
This one uses the XBM img src technique to generate a 2-bit image at run-time (example 1, 2). Could try rendering it with divs instead, but that'll probably cause quite the browser-freeze.

absolutely *butchering* the correct

That's a nice little script you've got there. I've had an inkblot generator of my own on my page for years, but it only produces PostScript files. Coming across this page has inspired me to add a couple of .xbm-producing pages, using both my original inkblot algorithm and a modification of your idea of using a random walk.
One problem with using public transportation, convenient as it is, is that you're repeatedly confronted with huge, offensive billboards advertising tobacco. Last December saw a particularly good one:

Wtf do they mean by that?! Something like: Merry Christmas, we hope you'll buy plenty of our products before you die from using them as they were intended ?
