sky

Careful cropping makes the view from my window look rather more exotic than it actually is.

leaf

This is the same leaf that I scanned in and used as a background image in this design five years(!) ago (the template is broken but you get the idea, I hope).

ducks bw

Three weeks later, those cute duckies have gotten a little bigger and a lot cheekier.

This kind of vertical lensflare always disappears when taking photos in regular photo mode, but by making a movie clip and grabbing one frame, I was able to capture it.

AFAIK the horizontal/vertical lens flare depends on the layout of the CCD cells. No ?

Wonderful picture.

Well with the nature of light it could be a number of things, including refraction of clouds, refraction angle of the sun on the atmosphere, season.. Even from my limited knowledge of ccd arrangement, I don't think that would have anything to do with it. I think the reason he got it at all might have to do with the way a digital camera would be continously capturing info.

o_O I didn't knew the in statement could be used outside of a "for( iterator in object )"

2. posted by Milo at 16:22 on May 12, 2005

Now that I think about it, unless I'm missing something, one could also simply use:

var TypeInSet = nodeType in [2, 3, 4, 7, 8];

...thus bypassing the need for the custom set() function.

3. posted by Milo at 16:27 on May 12, 2005

Oh wait, I am indeed missing something :)
in checks the *index*, not the values, so my idea makes no sense at all.

4. posted by Mathieu 'P01' HENRI at 16:39 on May 12, 2005

:)
It's not exactly the indexes. It's the name of the properties ( member variables ) of the object.

5. posted by Milo at 16:43 on May 12, 2005

True... but with regard to arrays I always think of those as 'string-based indexes' ;)

Anyway, to make something that *does* work for array literals, I came up with this:

Array.prototype.contains = function(n)
{
for (var i in this)
{
if (this[i] == n) { return true; }
}
return false;
}

var typeInSet = [2, 3, 4, 7, 8].contains( nodeType );
