I actually like that Unicode-a-riffic title better than I like the picture itself. :-)

Are both of those your previous cameras?

2. posted by Milo at 17:02 on May 26, 2006

I'm glad you appreciate the title ☺
The Fujifilm E550 (with the ↯OPEN lettering) is indeed my previous camera, but the Powershot A620 is a friend's new camera. I still tend to carry around the Fuji just in case, since it has a 4x zoom lens while the Ricoh GR Digital has no zoom at all.

Florentijn Hofman - Projects - Black Crow - by chance I spotted this impressive big wooden bird silhouette sculpture thing in three different locations during the last couple of months: first in Rijswijk, then near Station Delft, and finally, near the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam. Took me a while before I realized that I was seeing the same construction each time, instead of a matching duplicate - it's simply been traveling around. [related]

Hi,

i am trying via different ways to watch the flip flotsam film and would like to share it with the youth around me here on Zanzibar as to inspire them. But there is no connection with the website of Journeyman? any ideas. Thanks Marga

Hi Marga,
Just saw your comment today - we are the film makers of flip-flotsam.
Did Journeyman ever get back to you.
The web address for the film is now flipflotsam.co.uk
Hope you have gotten hold of a copy by now though.
all the best,

Deze vind ik wel mooi. Het was helemaal fijn moesten de rode afsluitingen boven de rode auto staan en de grijze ramen boven de grijze auto. Maar daar heeft een mens dan weer weinig tot geen controle over.

2. posted by Milo at 17:56 on May 19, 2006

3. posted by Milo at 18:15 on May 19, 2006

Waarmee ik met "in hun geheel" niet bedoel dat alle onderdelen van een foto mooi zijn... meer dat dat simpelweg niet uitmaakt, ofzo.

quicklinks back in main column

After two years of dumping quicklinks into a separate column, I'm going to try re-inlining them into the main weblog again for a while... going for more of a single-stream-of-consciousness type of thing, while shuffling the (non)design of this site around a bit. The linkdumps are still available as one giant flat list at milov.nl/tag/linkdump - currently at 660+ items.

Also, when viewing any of the large-view photo pages (such as this one), clicking the photo now jumps to the previous photo instead of jumping back to the main weblog, allowing easy click-click-clicking through a whole bunch of shots, photolog-style.

The pictures on my site are always a set size. So I never really had any vertical pictures on my site.
Maybe I should just put one online like this one. Make a diagonal picture, or just put the image on its side.

2. posted by Milo at 21:39 on May 16, 2006

Yeah, it's worth a try occasionally.

I've posted plenty of vertical pictures (see http://milov.nl/tag/tall ) but funnily enough I never considered rotating this one like that; it simply seems more 'right' this way. Since I shot it backwards without looking at the screen, there is no actual mental reference view anyway.

Four days after getting my GR Digital, I finally got a 2GB SD card... so that means no more shooting at 1MP resolution on the internal 26MB memory!

The standard 8MP high-res mode is 3264x2448 (4:3), but I'm liking the optional 3:2 resolution of 3264x2176, it seems to suit the wide-angle lens well.

first gr digital post!

I got myself a new camera, the unique Ricoh GR Digital. I've been eyeing this thing for months, reading tons of reviews and viewing the hundreds of photos on Flickr tagged with grdigital.

First thoughts: looks and feels really cool in a retro way, quite slim and light, macro mode is awesome. Now to take it outside in the sun and test it some more...
