Mozilla is finally getting close to being a usable browser, even though the clunky XUL interface is still noticably slower than IE. But for everything except some DHTML- and plugin-heavy sites, it's a perfectly usable alternative. Don't bother with Netscape 6 PR-2, just download Milestone M17 or a nightly build of M18.
To make the browsing experience somewhat more tolerable, switch to the 'Classic' skin via Preferences->Themes, which, although it looks like Navigator 4, sucks less than the default 'Modern' theme.
If you have a Mozilla shortcut on your desktop, but don't like the default Seamonkey icon, edit the shortcut-properties and change the icon to mozilla\bin\mozctl.dll. Now you'll see the friendly face of the Mozilla dragon instead.
