Clever Javascript (and amazing design) at microbians.com. By opening a fullscreen-window, and then resizing it, they eliminate the otherwise always present browser titlebar and borders. [via prol]
New at i.am/bald: nr. 80, the second java-applet so far. This reminds me of some of the things I used to program in GWBASIC and QBASIC years ago.
It has come to my attention that some people are unaware of the fact that one can SHIFT-CLICK on links in Internet Explorer to open them in a new window. So please, for everyone's sake, stop right-clicking links and choosing 'Open in New Window'; just hold shift and left-click.

Or, alternatively: activate the newly added 'new windows' option in the options menu of this page.
That reminds me... let's check out the latest edition of SHIFT magazine.

Uiteraard weer zonder <table> tags. Nu alleen nog een beetje opvullen. Probeer maar...
iSketch.net can be a lot of fun, a sort of online Flash version of Pictionary. Try the Movie Titles section...

Whoa... er komen opeens razend veel bezoekers langs via een link naar deze site op Alt0169. Welkom! Ik maak maar even van de gelegenheid gebruik om ook wat bezoekers naar m'n andere site, getiteld i.am/bald, te sluizen...
I finally got around to finishing and implementing this new design in honour of my new personal domain name - going for sort of a minimalistic noisy grungy look (B,C,E?). I like naming sites after their URL, so instead of 'mv', this weblog/homepage should henceforth be referred to as 'milov.nl'.

Some points of interest:
- Background colour customization. Hover over the bg:numbers in the option menu to test, and click to set.

- Instant referrer listing. Sites that link to this site will automatically be added to the 'latest referrers' menu.

- No <table>-tags. The entire layout is based on <div>s for speedier loading. Source code conforms to XHTML, rendering perfectly in IE5 and Mozilla M18, but looking pretty crappy in Netscape4.

Isometric screenshots - beautiful, somewhat spooky reproductions of historical events in a 3d isometric computer game style. [via have browser]

Wow... the first new feature at 0sil8 in over a year - 'The Minneapolis Sign Project'
Mozilla is finally getting close to being a usable browser, even though the clunky XUL interface is still noticably slower than IE. But for everything except some DHTML- and plugin-heavy sites, it's a perfectly usable alternative. Don't bother with Netscape 6 PR-2, just download Milestone M17 or a nightly build of M18.

To make the browsing experience somewhat more tolerable, switch to the 'Classic' skin via Preferences->Themes, which, although it looks like Navigator 4, sucks less than the default 'Modern' theme.

If you have a Mozilla shortcut on your desktop, but don't like the default Seamonkey icon, edit the shortcut-properties and change the icon to mozilla\bin\mozctl.dll. Now you'll see the friendly face of the Mozilla dragon instead.
NAPSTER TIP (for MusicFrom-readers):

I've seen a lot of sites lately mentioning their favourite 'mp3 of the day' and recommending people get it via Napster. for the convenience of your visitors, you can use special napster-enabled HREFs of the following form:

     <a href="nap:search?artist=Moloko">
     search!</a>

If you've installed Napster 2.0 beta7, clicking on such a link will instantly open Napster with the searchboxes filled out accordingly. Here are some working examples:

     nap:search?artist=Germain&title=Tourist

     nap:search?artist=Kosheen&title=Hide+U

     nap:search?artist=Hooverphonic

(N.B.: these apparently only work in IE, not Netscape...)
Whaddayaknow... Webtoddie had his birthday on Aug 12 as well... I just happened to end up at his site by opening a random weblog (in this case, Stupid Conversations) and clicking a random link in the left column.

Lots of interesting stuff to read in the archive of the apparently now defunct mailing list Memex. [via kottke]
