is there really a point for the period? b/c doesnt just the slash mean the current directory?

I even remember being able to use .../ to go two dirs up at one point (maybe in Win95 or 98), it doesn't seem to work in Windows XP anymore though.

Hmm, strange that it doesn't work anymore. (Not even without the extraneous non-Windows-y trailing slash.) I thought it was quite handy at times; you could even go up more directories just by using more dots. Nowadays, I always use a fine-tuned Bash from Cygwin. (Note to others: include "alias 'c:'='cd c:/'" etc. in ~/.bash_profile) |
